Prayer, Knowledge, and Obedience:
A People Called to be Holy (Colossians 1:9-10)
As we continue in our study of Colossians, we take a week to focus on the prayer offered by Paul and Timothy, with a particular emphasis on verses 9-10. As we can see from this passage, Paul and Timothy have been praying for the church at Colossae. But they haven't been praying for just anything. Rather, they have been praying for the kind of knowledge that leads to obedience of God. You see, Christians are not called to simply say a "sinner's prayer" and get on with life, but to live life pursuing both God and holiness. Only through doing so can we live a life that is "worthy of the Lord" and "fully pleasing Him." To do these things well, we Christians must remember who we are as sons and daughters of the Most High God, and then walk out our lives in that truth.
